How do you know which phone will work best for you? Well, you need to determine exactly what you plan on using the phone for. Do you plan on using the phone mainly for talking and texting? Or would you like to use all the latest features and functionalities that a premium cell phone possesses?

A Guide On How To Choose A Cell Phone / Smartphone:

Don’t settle for the cheapest phone you canfind

In most cases when you buy a new phone, it’s likely that you will have it for a while maybe one or two years. So it would be in your best interest to buy the best phone that you can afford.

If you plan on buying an inexpensive phone you will need the processor and the battery to work efficiently until it’s time to upgrade your phone again.

We all know that the battery becomes less efficient as the phone ages, so it’s imperative to choose a phone with a long-lasting battery.   One of the main benefits of choosing a premium phone such as the latest Samsung Galaxyphone or the latest iPhone is that they have a great resale value.

The premium phones may be costly but they will age more gracefully than the cheaper phones.

Choose A Cell Phone / Smartphone Based On Features:

Before choosing the phone if you know exactly what features youwant, it will help you to make a better decision. If you know what features you want you can get a phone with all the latest features and functionalities if that’s what you’re looking for.

Or if you’re looking for a basic cell phone knowing what features you want ahead of time will help you to avoid spending too much money. It will prevent you from buying a more expensive phone which has lots of features that you don’t want.

Things To Consider Before Buying A Phone:

The design of the phone and the overall look and feel of the phoneis very important. You should be comfortable with the way the phone looks and feels when you hold it in your hand.

For example, if you have small hands and you decided to buy a phone such as the latest Samsung Galaxy Note phone which is a phablet, it would be difficult to use it with one hand. It would be better for you to get a smaller phone.

Display Screen:

LCD

The LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen on cell phones hasgotten better over the years. The LCD screen on many of the phones today offer HD resolutions up to 1440 x 2560 pixels. The LCD uses an external backlight for illumination, this allows more shallow viewing angles and a lower contrast.

AMOLED

AMOLED is an acronym which stands for active matrix organiclight emitting diode displays. The AMOLED screen works by using organic chemicals to generate light. When the AMOLED screen is exposed to an electric current it uses OLEDs to create light.

As a result of this AMOLED screens offer a higher contrast with more vibrant colors than the LCD screens. All the latest Samsung phones that are currently on the market have AMOLED screens.

Camera:

A phone with adecent camera is important because at some point you may want to take photos or record a video with your phone. There are quite a few different variables which determine the quality of the camera.

If a camera has lots of megapixels you should not assume that it’s better than a camera with fewer megapixels.

The quality of the lens and the size of the aperture will play abig role in the picture quality. A camera with a bigger aperture will allow more light to get into the photo which will result in a better picture.

The camera may have fewer pixels, however, it may be more sensitive to illumination, which will result in better pictures in a darker setting.  Optical image stabilization also plays an important role in the quality of the photos.

If you’re taking a picture and your hand isn’t steady you will get a clear photo if the phone has optical image stabilization. But if it doesn’t, then you will end up with a blurry, distorted image.

Processor:

A phone with a fast and efficient processor is a must, the processor or CPU provides the power to work through different tasks.   For example, when you open an app on your phone or if you already have a few apps open and you decide to open another app.

The speed of the processor will determine how fast everythinghappens. The processor is important because it plays a big role in the overall performance of the phone.   The power of a phone’s processor is measured by the clock speed, the unit of measurement is gigahertz (GHz).

The number of cores in the chipsets today provides a great way to measure the power that the processor possess.

Battery:

A great phone with lots of cool features is no good if it has apoor battery life. The vast majority of cell phone manufacturers understand the importance of battery life.

As a result of this, they try to increase the capacity of the battery in their phones and make the phones more efficient so they will have a better battery life.

However, it doesn’t always work out the way it was supposed to. The system of measurement for a phone battery is mAh, batteries start around 1,700mAh and they can go up to 4,000mAh.

Battery performance is determined by standby time, talk time, and the amount of time you can expect the battery to last when multi-tasking.

Various Types Of Phones:

A messaging phone is a bit more advanced in its capabilitiesthan a basic cell phone. A messaging phone is a step down from a smartphone, a messaging phone does not run on a popular mobile operating system.

They run on software which was designed by the manufacturer of thephone. These phones are made primarily for sending and receiving text messages and emails, some of these phones have physical keyboards and some of them don’t.

A smartphone is a cell phone which possesses much more featuresand functionalities than the basic cell phone or messaging phone. These phones run on mobile operating systems such as Android Nougat and Apple iOS.
